Julie Massam
Contemporary Artist
A lifetime of Art
As an contemporary artist, I am currently exploring concept based connections between philosophy, print-making and semi abstract painting. The resulting works create a visual ‘dialogue’ between myself and the Cornish Landscape. Although I originally trained as a children’s art education specialist, I have since immersed myself in improvised performance art and conceptual practise. For over 27 years I have co-curated group exhibitions and participated in artist led initiatives such as Room 107 and 5.15. I have also collaborated extensively with Preston based artists such as conceptual artist Paul O’Hara and sonic artist Justine Flynn (UCLAN).
Since relocating to Penzance in 2019 I have exhibited regularly at the Penwith Gallery as an Associate Member and, more recently, have joined the Makers’ Emporium Co-operative in St Just.
