Penwith Society of Arts Summer Exhibition
One of the reasons that I am drawn to St. Ives, is my interest in the life and works of sculptor Dame Barbara Hepworth and her artist husband Ben Nicholson. I have often visited her house and seen her work in the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. As a priority, I joined the Penwith Society of Arts as an Associate Member just before lockdown happened. Barbara Hepworth founded the Penwith Society in 1949 and I have always visited it when possible. I worked hard during lockdown, trying to develop some of my new ideas in preparation for their Summer Exhibition. I am thrilled to report that two of my pieces were chosen for the show which opens along with the Members’ Exhibition on Monday 6th July 2020 at the Penwith Gallery.
If you haven’t been to the Penwith Gallery before, then I urge you to go. It contains such fantastic contemporary art from artists all over Cornwall and beyond and is a real, living piece of art history. If you have been before, then I hope you get the chance to pop into this vibrant gallery and see the exhibition soon.
All work shown in the Penwith Society Summer Exhibition will be available for purchase from the Penwith Gallery.
